Nintendo released the Gameboy in the US in 31 July 1989, 33 years ago today. Since then they have sold 118, 69 million units. In Japan the Gameboy was released in April 1989.

The gap to modern mobile devices is huge. The processor was an 8-bit with a clock frequency of 4.19 MHz. RAM was 8 KBytes which is actually for times more than what was fitted in NES. The screen resolution was 160 x 144 pixels.

At 2003 Nintendo stopped the production of the last Gameboy version to focus on Nintendo DS.
Favourite games for Gameboy
My favourite game for the Gameboy is Tetris and it was also released 1989. In my mind no other game for Gameboy even came close to how much I played and enjoyed Tetris. Which was your favourite Game Boy game? I also remember playing a lot of Kirby’s Pinball Land and Batman – The Video Game.
Although Tetris was my favourite game. The top games for Gameboy was Super Mario Land, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and Pokémon.
