The development started in 2017 after the Nintendo Switch Console released. The console released together with Zelda – Breath of the wild which is an amazing game. The expectation, at the time, was skyhigh, both for the new Switch console and for the new Zelda game.
I think both console and game surpassed all expectations. You just have to look at the sales figures and reviews. Zelda – Breath of the wild has so far sold 27.14 million copies worldwide at the time of writing 2022-08-09. On Nintendo sales top list this game is at position 4.
What we have seen from Nintendo
There is not much leaking out about the game from Nintendo. Nintendo has shown us some short clips in their Nintendo Directs as shown below.
During the presentation from E3 2021 it looks like a big part of the game will be in the sky above Hyrule with the Castle floating in the sky as well as several sky-islands.
The game sequel looks darker then the previous game which always felt like a fresh breath of air. When I think of it I recall the first time I came out of the tomb where Link awakens and coming up on the big hill watching out over the green bright Hyrule under the big blue sky.
The Latest info about Breath of the wild 2
The latest info is that the new Zelda – Breath of the wild 2 game came from a tweet on their NintendoAmerica account and it says it will be released in the spring 2023. Watch the short clip from Twitter below.
